“Just as you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of mine, you did it for me.” (Matthew 25:40)
More than thirty years ago, I learned through a very personal experience the power of change. While traveling through Baltimore City late one night, I saw a group of young children playing when they should have been safe in bed sleeping. I thought to myself as I drove by— “someone should really do something to ensure these kids are safe and supported.” As I continued to drive by, I distinctly heard God ask me, “what are YOU going to do about it?”
From that moment on I have worked to effect change in the lives of at-risk youth. I believe, with every ounce of my being, that the practice of family strengthening will help communities thrive. WIN empowers at-risk youth, strengthens families and ultimately, improves vulnerable Maryland communities. It is my intent that WIN will continue to do so for generations to come.
I have been very blessed in my own family life. I have been married to my beautiful wife, Aisha, for more than 20 years and we are fortunate to have adopted two wonderful girls. May you know love.
Make this a beautiful blessed day,
